Trance Gemini; Jedi Knight, a theory by Gordon AI

Ok I know it sounds stupid mixing Roddenberry and Lucas like this but if you think about the facts and the supposed abilities of a Jedi, it doesn't sound as ridiculous as you might think, in a way it actually makes sense. Trance Gemini is by far one of the most popular characters in Andromeda; and if I do say so myself, the most attractive alien I've ever seen and I've had twelve years of sci fi experience, I'm only eighteen. Purple Trance had a child like innocence that led everyone to believe she was harmless and somewhat weak while Golden Trance was older, wiser, stronger and a much more formidable warrior-some might even say a match for Tyr. However, what was most interesting about either Trance was her unusual abilities and almost constant luck, but is it something more, what isn't she telling us. As many know the Jedi have many abilities generally called force powers such as the basic abilities common to any Jedi; Force Seeing, Force Strength, Force Speed, Force Push and Force Pull. No matter how ridiculous it may seem, Trance has in fact demonstrated several of these abilities, namely Speed, Seeing and Pull. Just think about all the instances when she does something that's almost impossible. Lets take them in turn shall we?

SPEED When Trance is running from Dylan in episode 101 she covers an incredible distance in several seconds. Although it could be argued that Dylan's armour prevented him from running as fast as he could, however lancer armour is made of lightweight material, probably Kevlar and is designed for speed and mobility. Then again this could simply be a trait common to her species.

SEEING On many occasions Trance has defied all odds and done the impossible. I am of course talking about her luck in the casinos, finding Dylan on a prison planet, 1:300 and something the odds were I think that she would guess first time, joining the Maru's crew when she did and the fact that she's always talking about seeing the perfect possible future and how Harper's life makes that future possible and of course there's also the way she fought the invasion fleet in 'Tunnel At The End Of The Light'. Lets look at the casino first. She appeared to be playing some kind of roulette game and the odds of constantly winning at roulette are very high-its almost as if she could see where the ball would land before the game started, coincidence, I think not. Then look at how she found Dylan and Rommie stranded on a prison planet, "It's pretty." Maybe not her exact words but she said something like that. In many ways when it comes to discussing her past and the possible future she is very like Jedi Master Yoda in that she is secretive and mysterious yet always confident that what she is doing is correct. Although, on occasion, Trance has been wrong. Look at when he and she were on Mobius, she led them into a search party, I'll come back to that later; the reasoning behind why I think that happened isn't quite appropriate here. Now the fact that she joined the Maru's crew so soon before they found the Andromeda suggests to me that she could see that the small band of friends was destined for great things but then again that's in a perfect possible future, so to paraphrase Yoda, "Uncertain, their future is." Again revealing some of Trance's mystery. And the way she implicitly trusted Dylan and was the first to join with him on his quest would also seem to highlight this point and the idea of greatness in his future, hell, she even came back from the future, no pun intended, to try and make certain that it happened. The perfect possible future, how many times have we heard that? Trance is always talking about this possible future and how things went really bad, "If there is a perfect possible future then I haven't experienced it yet." Quote from Oroborous. Her decision to save Harper instead of Hohne, one of the greatest minds of the century, suggests that Harper will be more important, ok by living in one possible future she knows certain things, or has she seen another version where Harper has a pivotal role? How do you battle an unseen enemy? Simple, you trust your feelings, your instincts which is exactly what she did when she was fighting the beings from another universe, something every Jedi learns to do at the very beginning of their training. Anyone who has seen Episode Two will know what I mean, the Padawan Yoda is instructing with lightsabres are using their instincts, isn't that exactly what she was doing when firing, ok she started by using the sensors but failed then trusted her instincts.

PULL Trance says she has knack for finding things and on several occasions she has demonstrated this knack onboard Andromeda, usually it involves Harper. More than once Trance has interrupted Harper when he has being working on a new device or pet project and he has miss placed the item while being distracted by her; hmmm, this also shows something about Harper and how he 'views' Trance. In any case one second her hands are completely empty then the next she's holding what he lost, just a coincidence, or a natural gift? You decide.

HEALING/REGENERATING These are relatively new powers from the game Jedi Outcast 2 but they would explain why Trance keeps coming back from the dead.

JEDI MIND TRICK Ok I had to do this, I'm a Trancer so I really had no choice. I mean come on, how else could Trance manipulate Tyr in Angel Dark Demon Bright or Hsigo in Last Call At The Broken Hammer. Now that the basics are out of the way, most of you are probably thinking 'So where's her lightsabre then?' A very valid question and I give a valid answer with a question of my own. Lightsabres are weapons so would likely be detected by Rommie the second it was brought onboard, so I ask you, where does Rommie have no sensors? Yep, the Maru and with Harper's knowledge of Earth from the Twentieth century he'd be the first to realise what it was so it makes sense for her to hide it and stick with the forcelance. One must also consider why Trance is so secretive about her past and why she cannot see everything, see SEEING paragraph 3 if you've forgotten. The Jedi are mortal enemies of The Sith, the dark lords as they like to be called. It is possible that Trance was sent on a mission similar to that of Obi Wan Kenobi and Qui Gon Jinn were in Episode One, to learn if the Sith had returned and whether it was safe for the Jedi to reveal themselves to their would be allies in the new Commonwealth. It has been said again by Yoda that 'The Dark Side clouds everything.' This could explain why Trance was unable to see exactly where she and Dylan were going on Mobius and who was waiting for them, hence the excuse, "That's the problem with guessing, ninety per cent of the time its fifty-fifty." Possibly trying to cover her true identity as a Jedi or simply making an excuse for her bad guess, you decide. I must however state that this is only my opinion based on the facts most of which are circumstantial at best but do highlight the point I am trying to make. I also thank those of you who have taken the time to read this and hope that it at least helps you to form your own opinion as to what exactly Trance is. I would appreciate any feedback you would like to give me, good, bad or otherwise.
